To join the band, you must submit an online audition. Record your videos and upload them to YouTube. Make your videos “unlisted”. You can combine your audition pieces into one video if you like.
Record your audition on one of these instruments: Flute, Piccolo, Oboe, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Bassoon, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Baritone Sax, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone/Euphonium, Tuba or Percussion that shows:
- an example of your lyrical playing (something slow and pretty)
- an example of your technical playing (something fast and flashy)
- chromatic scale articulated (not slurred) from your lowest note to your highest note at a comfortable speed with your best tone quality.
Percussionists should include playing from both snare drum and mallets.

There is no fee to audition.
If you play more than one instrument, send a separate audition for each instrument you are interested in playing. For example, if a flute player plays piccolo, send a separate piccolo audition, if a trumpet player plays French Horn, send auditions for both. If there is enough interest, two bands differentiated by ability demonstrated by the auditions will be formed.
You are welcome to use selections from All-State or WIBC audition materials, available online from the links following, or etudes and excerpts from solo literature. HS Solo & Ensemble Festival and HS Band/Evergreen auditions are shortly after ours, so this audition can help to prepare you for those.
